Water-society relationships are mutually constituted over long periods of time. Scholarship and thinking in general always benefit from an investigation of the historical dimensions of water-related problems that are linked to social and environmental changes occuring at different time scales.
This Water Alternatives 'stream' is devoted to compiling archival material of interest on water, including old books, maps and photos. In most cases we provide direct links to libraries and respositories that make these documents available. Other documents are public-domain documents that have been scanned/provided by contributors to this website.
This stream will also offer wikipedia-like pages on the chronology of main historical water issues by country, with links to the documents inventoried and pages dedicated to specific topics.
If you have old documents, maps or photos that are in the public domain you are welcome to help us make valuable historical material available.
